Album Info:Good fortune cast my lot trackside for the day. I always hope to see more Pan Am / Guilford units than what is typically operating, but it was a great day for some winter railroad photography on a very scenic portion of the former Boston & Maine.

Title:  Slide Fence at Soapstone
Description:  Pan Am has several slide fences installed near the bottom of historic rock slides in the Deerfield gorge. Here you can see one on the right, just above the spine flat car. If disturbed, the slide fence trips the signals on either side of this section to red / stop to hopefully prevent a wreck due to boulders on the track.
